Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN – Honourable Attorney -General and Commissioner for Justice and Member, Governing Board, Lagos State Public Procurement Agency.

Mr. Lawal Mohammed Alade Pedro, (SAN) was born on 6th October, 1961 in Lagos Island in the area known as Campos or Popo Aguda/Brazilian Quarters to the families of Libento Pedro and Ojutiku Ambose Branch of the Akinsemoyin Royal Family.

He attended Christ Church Cathedral Primary School, Broad Street, Lagos, Ahlmadiyya College, Agege (now Anwar Ul-Islam Model College, Agege, Lagos and Methodist Boys High School, also in Lagos. He also attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he studied Law. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986.

Upon graduation, he had his mandatory youth service (NYSC) as a Legal Officer in the Western Regional Office of First Bank of Nigeria Plc., in Ibadan. From private practice, he joined the Lagos State Ministry of Justice in December 1987 where he worked in various directorates and rose to become Director of Civil Litigation, a position he held until his appointment as Solicitor General of Lagos State and Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Justice in April, 2008.

In the same year, Mr. Pedro was conferred with the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), thereby becoming the first State Counsel in Lagos State and indeed of the 36 States of  the Federation of Nigeria to be conferred with the rank.

He retired from the public service of Lagos State in August 2015 following which he commenced his private legal practice in the firm of Lawal Pedro, SAN & Associates with offices in Lagos and Abuja.

Mr. Pedro is a member of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), International Bar Association (IBA), Fellow Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of Nigeria (FCIArb), CEDR accredited Mediator and an author of law books, prominent among his publications is the book titled “Jurisdiction of Courts in Nigeria”.

He is happily married with lovely children.
